Acupuncture

To many in the west, acupuncture and its workings seems strange and even alien, but in fact, its fundamental theory is far less fanciful when we consider all the other processes going on around us. We all know that electricity travels thousands of miles along cables and wire and fuels a multitude of devices in our homes – even though we never see it. We are also aware that mobile phones and computers are now capable of transferring huge amounts of information invisibly and remotely across not only the planet, but even out into space and back. All this we are aware of, and yet we still find it hard to believe that the human body, by far the most amazing, complex and awe-inspiring creation of all, could have developed its own invisible network through which to feed and inform the body. Acupuncture shows us our own internal wireless networks, gives us access to the world-wide web of our bodies, and allows us to influence and heal the physical and emotional workings of our personal lives by affecting the very stuff of life itself.

Western Medicine

Acupuncture works excellently alongside Western Medicine, but it can also get to those places that Western Medicine finds it hard to reach. This is because it can make sense of seemingly random symptoms and get to the root cause of illness. Acupuncture treatment can also be used to prevent disease and is excellent at improving general health and well-being.

Rachel Geary

Rachel Geary BA(Hons), Lic. Ac. MBAcC is a fully qualified acupuncturist, having graduated from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in 2002. She has previously practised in Inverness and Barnstaple. "I first became interested in acupuncture whilst I was at university studying History and Philosophy. I was particularly drawn to eastern philosophy, which I found particularly elegant and beautiful. I then went on to complete a three and a half year course of study in acupuncture and discovered it to exemplify these very same qualities. I feel very privileged to have been able to learn so much about the Chinese understanding of health and to be able to use this knowledge to help others." Rachel Geary is a Registered Acupuncturist, she is registered at The British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), and The Association of Community and Multibed Acupuncture Clinic (ACMAC).
